Guidelines, check-in protocols, pet policies, and house rules for guests staying at Ethnic Trail Homestay.
1. Check-In & Check-Out Timings
24/7 host assistance available for late road-trip arrivals. Early check-in subject to prior room vacancy.
Late checkout can be requested directly with host Naman based on onward guest schedules.
2. Government Identification Requirement
In compliance with Government of Uttarakhand and local administrative statutes, all adult guests (18+ years) must present a valid government-approved original photo ID upon arrival (Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License). PAN cards are not accepted as valid proof of address. Foreign nationals must furnish a valid passport and Indian visa.
3. Pet-Friendly Stay Guidelines
Ethnic Trail Homestay is proud to be a 100% pet-welcoming mountain sanctuary. To maintain harmony for all guests and our resident companion dogs:
- Pets are permitted in all ground-level rooms, private balconies, and enclosed garden lawns.
- Pet parents are responsible for their pets' general behavior, cleaning up after their pets on the lawns, and ensuring pets do not damage vintage timber woodwork or bedding.
- Please inform us of your companion animal during initial reservation so we can prepare food bowls and fresh bedding.
4. Dining & Kitchen Policies
We serve authentic Pahadi Kumaoni and North Indian cuisine prepared fresh over wood-fired chulhas:
- Breakfast: Complimentary regional breakfast is included with all confirmed direct bookings (served 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM).
- Lunch & Dinner: Prepared fresh on pre-order. Please inform the kitchen staff at least 3 hours in advance to source organic regional ingredients.
- Vegetarian & Non-Vegetarian Separation: We maintain strictly separate cookware and preparation stations for pure vegetarian dishes.
5. Valley Quiet Hours & Acoustic Decorum
The Thaplia valley is treasured for its profound natural silence, birdsong, and crisp mountain atmosphere:
- Outdoor loudspeakers, high-decibel commercial music systems, and loud gatherings are strictly prohibited at all times.
- Quiet hours commence at 10:00 PM in outdoor garden areas and verandas to respect the peaceful rest of fellow travelers and valley residents.
6. Direct Booking Deposits & Rescheduling
To confirm your direct booking, a 50% advance deposit is required via UPI or direct bank transfer. The remaining balance is payable upon physical check-in.
Rescheduling Policy: Because we have only 5 private boutique suites, cancellations significantly impact our small family operations. If your travel dates must change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, contact host Naman at least 7 days prior to arrival to reschedule your stay to an alternate available date without loss of deposit.
7. Preservation of Heritage Timber
Our Kath-Kuni suites feature irreplaceable hand-carved deodar timber from Dharchula. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside all wooden bedrooms and enclosed suites (permitted in open garden zones only). Any deliberate damage to antique woodwork will be assessed for restoration costs.
